A Message from the President - DISSOLVING CIVIL CONSTABLE ASSOCIATION OF NOVA SCOTIA

After more than 3 decades of service to Atlantic Canada by the Civil Constable Association of Nova Scotia the decision has been made to dissolve CCANS.  Although there are still Provincial Civil Constables operating within Nova Scotia, many no longer belong to this association.  Through various web-sites, social media platforms, etc., the need for a central adverstising venue for potential clients has diminished.  The Department of Justice no longer welcomes our input or responds to our requests relative to aspects of process serving to bring about postitive change.  Initially that was a very important aspect of our Association, as the Department of Justice in the 1990s was interested feedback from the process servers, without whom, the justice system would grind to a halt.  If documents don't get served, court matters do not proceed.  Legal issues encountered by process servers in Nova Scotia that have been brought to them by CCANS for clarification and nolw are ignored, leaving process servers uncertain as to their legal positions / liability in serving court documents on posted property.
